Some admin tasks are easy to put off, and filling in your timesheet is often one of them. You wrap up a call, jump on an urgent file, answer a few emails… and by the end of the week, you have to rebuild several days of work from memory.
Zoho Projects now gives this routine a welcome boost: Zia can help generate your weekly timesheet entries by suggesting time based on your assigned tasks and the work hours you’ve already logged.
For SMBs that track hours by project, client or engagement, this small new feature can have a much bigger impact than it seems.
Less time spent… entering your time
In Zoho Projects, users can already log hours against tasks, issues or general activities. With Zia’s new assistance in the weekly timesheet, part of that work can now be prepared automatically.
Users open their timesheet, call on Zia and get suggestions based on their work in Zoho Projects. They can then review the proposed entries before saving them.
The goal, then, isn’t to let AI decide on its own what gets billed. The real value is giving users a much faster starting point.
And sometimes, removing a few minutes of friction from a task you repeat every week is worth a great deal.
Better data quality for SMBs
A timesheet isn’t just an administrative requirement.
For a service business, it can feed project tracking, planned-versus-actual comparisons, profitability analysis, team capacity management and, ultimately, client billing.
The problem is that all of this analysis becomes less reliable when hours are entered several days later, or simply forgotten.
By making timesheets easier to prepare, Zia can help make the process more consistent. A team that tracks its time better also gets better data to understand its projects.
For an SMB, that can help answer very concrete questions: Is this type of engagement actually profitable? Is a project eating up more hours than planned? Is some of the work we do never getting billed?
AI suggests, people approve
This is probably the most important point.
A Zia suggestion is still just a suggestion. Team members should always review the proposed hours before saving them or submitting them for approval.
That’s especially important when timesheets are used to produce an invoice or measure the profitability of an engagement.
So the right way to use this feature isn’t “let AI fill in our timesheets for us.” It’s “use AI to rebuild a week of work faster, then validate the result.”
That distinction lets you save time without sacrificing data quality.
A small improvement that tackles a real pain point
Big AI announcements get plenty of attention, but the most useful features are sometimes the ones that remove a few steps from a task your team repeats constantly.
Zia’s weekly timesheet assistance in Zoho Projects is a great example.
If your business already uses Zoho Projects, this feature is well worth testing. And if your timesheets, project tracking and billing still run in silos, the potential gains can go well beyond this one new feature.
