A new automation can save a tremendous amount of time. But when it’s poorly configured, it can also create duplicates, change the wrong data, trigger communications at the wrong time or disrupt an important process.
Zoho has just improved the Zoho CRM Sandbox so businesses can test more integrations before rolling them out to their live work environment.
What is a Sandbox?
A Sandbox is an isolated copy of your Zoho CRM environment. It lets you change configurations, build automations and run tests without touching the data your team uses every day.
In other words, it’s a safe testing ground.
Your team can test a new process there, observe the results, fix issues and validate how the solution behaves before it goes live.
Testing that now goes beyond the CRM
Until now, some integrations between Zoho CRM and other apps in the ecosystem were hard to fully test in the Sandbox.
Zoho CRM now lets you connect and validate several apps directly in this environment:
- Zoho Flow;
- Zoho Forms;
- Zoho Finance;
- Zoho Campaigns;
- Zoho Analytics;
- Zoho Creator;
- Zoho Backstage;
- Zoho Circuits.
Integrations with Zoho Projects, Zoho SalesIQ and the mail merge feature are expected to be added in a later phase.
Why does this matter for an SMB?
Take the example of a web form that automatically creates a lead in Zoho CRM.
Once the lead is created, Zoho Flow could:
- assign the lead to the right region;
- create a task for a sales rep;
- add the person to a campaign;
- send certain information to Zoho Books;
- trigger a follow-up email.
A single field-mapping error could send the wrong information to several apps.
With the Sandbox, you can test the entire flow before the automation touches real customer records.
A safer go-live
Among other things, this improvement lets you check:
- that information is transferred to the right fields;
- that automations trigger at the right time;
- that rules and conditions produce the expected result;
- that communications aren’t sent prematurely;
- that integrated apps respond correctly;
- that existing data remains intact.
However, Zoho notes that integration-specific configurations can’t yet be deployed automatically from the Sandbox to production. Some steps will therefore need to be reproduced or configured in the live environment after testing.
Test before you have to fix
In any business, technology processes quickly become interconnected. A seemingly minor change can ripple across several apps.
Testing an integration before it goes live reduces risk, and it also helps you document processes better, train users and plan for edge cases.
This is especially relevant when:
- implementing a new CRM;
- adding a form;
- building an automation in Zoho Flow;
- integrating Zoho CRM with Zoho Books;
- changing a sales process;
- launching a new marketing campaign.
At Nuagix, we don’t just automate tasks. We make sure your tools talk to each other properly, that processes reflect how your business really works and that changes are tested before they affect your operations.
Because good automation should simplify your work, not create a new emergency.
